Celebrate National Beer Day 2018 with these Central Florida Events and Breweries

National Beer Day is tomorrow, April 7, and there are a variety of events and local breweries to enjoy a brew or two.  Here are CitySurfing Orlando's picks for celebrating this historical American day.

National Beer Day is tomorrow, April 7, and there are a variety of events and local breweries to enjoy a brew or two (or more).

This date was designated National Beer Day because on his day in 1933, President Franklin Roosevelt took the first step toward ending Prohibition and signed a law that allowed people to brew and sell beer as long as it remained below 4.0% alcohol by volume (ABV). Despite the low ABV, Americans were thrilled to be able to purchase beer for the first time in thirteen years.

4th Annual Brewmasters Invitational Beer Festival, Port Canaveral – The festival will feature more than 50 breweries. Cost is $30 at the gate general admission, which includes unlimited tastings; designated driver bands are $10. Visit the Eventbrite ticket page for more info.

Deadly Sins Brewing, Winter Park – Hinckley’s Fancy Meats & Deadly Sins Brewing will be hosting a National Beer Day BBQ. Cost is $25 via Eventbrite, which includes a beer, a bottle of BA Barley Wine, a side dish, and either a half-rack of barbecue ribs, a mix of ribs and duck wings or six duck wings.

DeBary Beerfest – River City Nature Park (200 Barwick Road) in DeBary is where you’ll find  30-plus breweries, including Bowigens Beer Co. in Casselberry, Broken Cauldron in Orlando and Hourglass Brewing in Longwood. Tickets are $30 via the online ticket page and $40 at the gate. In addition to the breweries, there are food trucks and vendors. Proceeds will go toward the St. John’s Riverkeeper, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting and restoring the St. John’s River.

Disney Springs, Walt Disney WorldThe Polite Pig will be offering local drafts from sister brewery Cask & Larder. Nearby, Frontera Cocina will be offering $6 Modelo Especial Drafts all day long.

Orlando Brewing, Orlando – In addition to National Beer Day, Orlando Brewing will celebrate 12 years of bringing organic brews to Central Florida with limited-time drinks on top of offering a $2 discount on all drafts.

Ritz-Carlton Orlando at Grande Lakes – Bites & Brews – In honor of National Beer Day, Chefs from Highball & Harvest will partner with their Grande Lakes Orlando Brewmaster, Aaron Libera, to showcase small plates that pair best with different beer styles and discuss the brewing process at Grande Lakes. Cost: $55 per person; includes beer samples, paired bites, and a chance to win a beer brew kit.
