Chef James Petrakis of Cask & Larder will join Chef John Rivers for cooking demo and tasting at his restaurant, The COOP, on June 29

Special guest Chef James Petrakis of Cask & Larder will join Chef John Rivers for cooking demo and tasting at his Winter Park restaurant, The COOP, on June 29. The event is free, and starts at 6:30pm (though I recommend arriving early). Visit the event’s Facebook page for more info.

Christner’s Prime Steak & Lobster will host another of their Cutting Board Dinner Series on Friday, June 17, in partnership with multiple award-winning Robert Mondavi Winery. The four-course interactive wine dinner will cost $135 per person (including tax/gratuity). For reservations, please call 407.645.4443.

Christner’s will be hosting additional wine dinners throughout the summer on July 22, August 19 and September 16, but I don’t have details on those, yet.

In honor of National Cupcake Lover’s Day, June 13, Sprinkles at Disney Springs will kick off two weeks of off-the-menu flavors. Check Sprinkles’ social media each day (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) to see what special flavor you can get that day.

Additionally, through June 19 guests can get a buy one get one free menu item when they bring in a previous purchase receipt. Receipts must be brought in 1 week from receipt date to be redeemed for the special.

Oblivion Taproom on E. Colonial debuted a new summer menu yesterday (June 9). As a bonus, select burgers and sandwiches are $1 off. Check out the new menu here:

Bento Cafe Orlando is hosting an All You Can Eat Sushi Contest at its downtown location on June 18th for International Sushi Day. If you’re interested in participating, entrance fee is $20 and it will include a t-shirt, a tumbler, and a “swag bag”. Sign-up deadline is Wednesday, June 15th.

The first Home Brew Festival will take place at World of Beer UCF on June 25. It will highlight some of the best home brewers in Central Florida and give one lucky hobbiest the chance to brew with Red Cypress Brewery for a WOB exclusive collaboration beer. Admission is $20. Orlando sandwich-inspired clothing company Deli Fresh Threads has partnered with Pom Pom Teahouse and Sandwicheria to crreate the Gouda Meat Cha sandwich. It features the meat combo of Pastrami, Roast Beef and Ham, Gouda cheese, red onion, and a layer of strawberry jelly on whole wheat, and its served heated. The sandwich will be available for the first time on Sunday, June 19th, and every third Sunday of the month afterwards.

Chef Jason Schofield has opened his newest eatery, Maddey’s Craft & Cru, in downtown Orlando inside the Bumby Arcade on Church Street. He’s still tweaking the menu, but expect items like pasta, sandwiches (lunch), artisan pizza, cheese & charcuterie boards, and dinner entrees like steak and seafood.

Tavistock Restaurant Collection, which recently opened the popular Canvas Restaurant and Market in Lake Nona, has announced plans to open a gastropub in the Lake Nona Town Center this fall. We’ll anounce more details as they become available.

Breakfast eatery The Egg & I have closed their SODO location on S. Orange Ave. in Orlando. They still have Central Florida locations in Melbourne and Ocala.
