The COOP has added a new option to its menu. The Salad Bar

The COOP in Winter Park has added a new option to its menu. The Salad Bar includes offerings such as grilled chicken, fresh and flavorful dressings that are made in house, and various pre-made seasonal salads.

Cost is $9.99, and its available daily from 11am-2pm and from 5pm-close.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida hosts Chef’s Night: Year of the Steak on May 19. The talented Chefs of Second Harvest – Israel Santiago, Terah Barrios, John Dizon, Jill Holland and Robert Pagen – will prepare a five-course dinner. Tickets are $100, and proceeds benefit Second Harvest’s Culinary Training Program. Visit the event’s Facebook page for tickets, a menu, and more info.

The inaugural Border Bash and Poutine Palooza will take place at K Restaurant in Orlando on May 23. It’s a fundraiser for the Kevin Fonzo Foundation, and will feature a poutine showdown between three Central Florida Chefs: Tim Dacey of Capa, Hari Pulapaka of Cress Restaurant and Austin Boyd of Seito Sushi Baldwin Park. STK Orlando at Disney Springs is now offering advance reservations for May 25 and beyond by calling 407-917-7440. The One Group restaurant hasn’t made an official opening announcement, and no word if it will be soft opening before that date.

The Doghouse has opened in College Park, serving a menu of “crazy dogs and loaded tots.” It’s owned by Brad and Christina Cowherd, the duo behind two other College Park favorites: Infusion Tea and the Soda Fountain. Most of the dogs are in the $5.95-$6.95 range, and vegan dogs are available. Tots are $3.95 and $5.95 depending on size, and they have combo deals. The eatery is located at 2527 Edgewater Drive, and can be found online (with a full menu) at doghouseorlando.com.

Wolfgang Puck’s Cafe at Disney Springs will host an Interactive Sushi Making Class for Kids on Saturday, June 25 from noon to 2pm. Kids will learn how to make an array of sushi including hand rolls, nigari and maki rolls, plus they will also create refreshing and flavorful summertime drinks including Old Fashioned Chocolate Soda and a Grapey-Orange Cooler. Cost is $35 per person (+ tax/gratuity). Reservations can be made by calling 407.828.8996.

Ming Court on International Drive is closing at the end of the month, after 27 years in business. No reason was given in the email sent out. Apparently a CVS will be taking over the property. I never ate there, but I always enjoyed the architecture of the building.
