Orlando Dining Round-Up December 13, 2015: Dragonfly Robota, Cask & Larder, Mango’s Orlando

In this week’s dining news round-up, Dragonfly Robata hosts a sushi class, Cask & Larder’s brunch extension, new openings, plus much more. Ready?

Dragonfly Robata Grill & Sushi will be hosting their second Behind the Knife: Sushi Class on Saturday, December 19. Cost is $60 per person and during the course, Chef de Cuisine David Song will provide his students with the tips, tricks and techniques it takes to make perfect sushi rice, and how to recognize sushi-grade fish based on color, texture and smell.

Designed to be a complete experience, a champagne aperitif and floating hors d’oeuvres are included. Check-in is at 11:30am with the class at noon. Call 407.370.3359 to reserve your spot.

Cask & Larder is now serving their brunch menu on Saturdays, instead of Sundays only. Hours for both days is 10:30am to 3pm.

Mango’s Orlando on I-Drive is set to soft open on December 18. This second outpost of the popular SoBe nightclub/restaurant will feature a menu of Latin-influenced dishes, a full bar, and a nightly free dinner show, included with your meal. Noodles & Co. will open its fifth Central Florida location in Lake Mary on December 15. It will be located at 850 S. Sun Drive, and will have both indoor and patio seating.

Metro Diner is now open at 985 N. State Road 434 in Altamonte Springs. The Jacksonville-based company has amassed a following with its homestyle cooking, and was even featured on on an episode of Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives TV show. Plans are to expand further into Central Florida in 2016 and beyond.

BaBa’s Orlando Mediterranean Grill will be replacing Whitewood Mediterranean Grill in downtown Orlando at the corner of Orange Ave and Central Blvd. No word on an opening date or menu, or whether they will offer the hookah nights Whitewood did.

Wahlburgers fans in Central Florida are going to have to wait a bit longer to enjoy the new downtown Orlando location, as the opening date has now been pushed back to sometime in January 2016. It will be located in the SunTrust Center at the corner of Church Street and Orange Ave.
