Make Taverna Opa Orlando’s Brandy Baklava at Home

November 17th is National Baklava Day, and in addition to offering complementary baklava to diners to celebrate the day, Taverna Opa Orlando has kindly shared with us the recipe for their Brandy Baklava beverage.

Brandy Baklava by Taverna Opa Orlando

The cocktail has only a few ingredients and only two types of alcohol. Here is the complete recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 3oz Half-and-Half
  • 1 tbsp Honey (plus additional for the glass rim)
  • 3/4oz. Hazelnut Liqueur
  • 1oz. Brandy
  • 3-4 drops of Orange Water
  • 1 pinch Cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp Crushed Pistachios

Instructions:

First rim the glass with honey and then coat with the crushed pistachios. To do this, spread a thin layer of honey on one saucer, and the nuts on another. Turn the glass, dipping the rim into the honey to coat it. Next, dip the honey-rimmed glass into the nuts to coat the edge and set aside to dry.

To make the cocktail, fill a shaker with the first five ingredients and ice. Shake vigorously to chill and mix. Strain the mixture into the the rimmed cocktail glass, and sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on top.
