This week, Orlando’s Mad Cow Theatre opens their newest production, My Name Is Asher Lev, which will run November 6 through December 6, 2015.

The play is an adaptation of Chaim Potok’s critically acclaimed novel of the same name, which chronicles a a young painting prodigy growing up in a Hasidic community in post-WWII Brooklyn.

Set against a backdrop of tradition and faith, the story follows the conflict between young Asher’s art and his religious identitiy.

The cast of My Name Is Asher Lev features Brian Brightman (Dinner With Friends, The Philadelphia Story) as the Man, and Mad Cow newcomers Sara Oliva as the Woman and Michael Frishman as Asher Lev. The production is directed by Mark Edward Smith. Scenic design is by Rob Wolin, lighting design is by Eric Haugen, costume design is by Charlie Nebe, and props are by Lisa Buck.

Mad Cow Theater Presents My Name is Asher Lev

Opening night is November 6, with previews on November 4 and 5. A pay-what-you-wish performance will be held Wed., Dec 2. Talkbacks with the cast are free and will take place after each Thursday and Sunday performance.

Adult tickets are $38, and previews are $15. Performances are at 8pm on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and at 3pm on Sundays. There will be one Saturday 3pm show on November 14.
