In this week’s dining news round-up, we bring some tasty news about a sandwich meet-up, special dinners, some openings and more.

Deli Fresh Threads will be hosting a special “National Sandwich Day” edition of their monthly #SandwichEatUp on November 3 at Pig Floyd’s Urban Barbakoa on Mills Ave. It’s free to attend; you only pay for what you order. Visit the event’s Facebook page for more info.

Smiling Bison‘s Orlando location will be hosting their monthly Sunday BBQ Smokeout on November 1. Enjoy a plate of housemade BBQ goodness, handcrafted and designed specially for this date by Chef Josh Oakley, for only $17 per plate from 5:30pm to 9pm.

East End Market is hosting a Fall Harvest Dinner on November 20, from 7-9pm. This dinner celebrates the local farmers, ranchers, fishers, and food artisans who contribute to Central Florida’s ever-growing food culture. The menu will feature the best seasonal ingredients of our area, prepared by East End Market’s Chef Jessica Tantalo. Cost is $79.88 per person.

La Madeleine is hosting a sneak peek of their new Millenia Mall area location on November 9 and 10 for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Your meal is free, but this is a benefit for the Children’s Hunger Fund, so they will be collecting donations as you check in. You must register for a time at their Eventbrite.com page, as space remains available.

Chuy’s Restaurant is set to open its fourth Central Florida location near the Waterford Lakes Town Center, and they are currently hiring for a variety of positions, including front-of-the-house hosts, servers, bussers and bartenders, and kitchen staff. Interested applicants should apply at the hiring trailer located on site at 1434 N. Alafaya Trail Monday-Saturday from 9am to 5pm.

According to the Orlando Business Journal, Segafredo at Mills Park closed for renovations on October 27. No word on when it will reopen.

Ocean Sun Brewing (no website yet) will open in February at 3000 Curry Ford Rd, where the Southern Moon Smokehouse use to be. In addition to their own brews, the taproom will have two separate lounge-style seating areas, and plans are for food to be provided with local restaurant partners, as yet to be named. La Fiesta Mexican Grill will probably be one, since they will be sharing space with the brewery.

Breyting Community Roaster in DeLand will hold its grand opening November 7, with public tours from 3-6pm. Then from 7-10pm, an after-party hosted by B-52s frontman Fred Schneider will take place. Fred Schneider’s Monster Blend is the name of one of Breyting’s signature roast.

The 15th annual Orlando Japan Festival takes place November 8 at The Village (13574 Village Park Dr) in Hunter’s Creek. There will be live entertainment and demonstrations, as well as food for purchase. It runs 11am to 5pm, and admission is free.
