Gardell Bros Pizza
Gardell Bros Pizza has opened in Hunter’s Creek. In addition to the pizzas, the fast casual eatery’s menu features salads, sandwiches, and calzones, all with an Italian flare.

The restaurant is owned by actor Billy Gardell (“Mike & Molly”), and his family. The actor will be present for the grand opening weekend October 9 and 10 from 5pm to 10pm. His co-star Lou Mustillo will also be guest bartender those two nights.

Se7enbites announced it will relocate to a larger building in 2016. The new location is three blocks away from the current digs, in the Milk District. The move will give the popular bakery more space, going from seating for about 30 people to seating for about 100. They also plan to have an outdoor patio/deck area. Captain D’s a national fast casual seafood restaurant, is looking to expand its restaurants in Orlando. The brand currently has 6 Central Florida locations, including W. Colonial Drive in Orlando, as well as Winter garden, Sanford, DeLand, Leesburg, and Dade City.

Social House restaurant to open at Waterford Lakes Town Center this winter, in the space formerly occupied by Friendly Confines. The eatery will offer a fresh made-from-scratch menu, hand-crafted cocktails and extensive beer and wine offerings which include a 12-tap craft-only draft beer selection, presided over by Elizabeth Mukherjee, culinary director and partner.

Sample menu items will include the shareable Cider Glazed Sprouts and a Chefs Seasonal Snack Tray (served on an artisanal wood cutting board) featuring seasonal cheese selections, hummus of the day and grilled naan bread. Main course specialties will include a Build-your-own Mac-n-Cheese Bowl available with a selection of over 20 additional toppings and ingredients, a Chicken-N-Wafflewich, Crispy Shrimp Cucumber Boats, and the Social House Slider Plate. Teak Neighborhood Grill unveils new menu items, including five more original burgers, three sandwiches, two desserts and several starters and salads.

Voted one of the best burger joints in Orlando, the updated menu includes the “Waffle Burger” with melted American cheese over a medium egg and applewood smoked bacon in between two homemade mini Belgium waffles. Also new, the “OMG Burger” features a blackened patty topped with melted bleu cheese crumbles, Teak’s signature chips, balsamic reduction and bibb lettuce on a pretzel bun.

Pepe’s Cantina Mexican Grill to open in Winter Park’s Hannibal Square neighborhood in mid-October. It will take over the space formerly occupied by mi Tomatina, which unexpectedly closed recently.

Co-owner/chef Jose “Pepe” Baranneko has created a menu of traditional Mexican food with “a twist,” and it appears the former mi Tomatina general manager, Franklin Chavez, is also a business partner.

The beverage menu will also feature the “Don Pepe,” a 2-liter margarita topped with two Coronitas (Corona beer in a smaller bottle).

Italio, the Italian fast-casual eatery in Winter Park is offering a special Columbus Day deal for the month of October. The “2 for $14.92” offer includes your choice of two entrees and two fountain drinks for $14.92. For more info, visit italiokitchen.com.

Fast-casual Mexican chain Zona Fresca has opened at 1035 N. Orlando Ave in Winter Park. This is the first Orlando location for the South Florida brand, and features a Baja-style menu with dishes like chicken burritos and fish tacos, made with fresh and all-natural ingredients. The chain is also looking to expand to other Central Florida locations.

NBC Grill and Brew has been in random soft opening status for the last week, and plans to officially open on October 6 at Universal Orlando CityWalk. The new eatery is themed to be the ultimate sports bar with almost 100 HD screens showing sports coverage. It will also offer an indoor-outdoor beer garden. It’s in the location of the former NASCAR Cafe.

Chef Norman Van Aken is planning to open a new restaurant in Mount Dora in Spring 2016. The new menu is said to feature refined rustic cuisine, and the eatery will be located next to the Modernism Museum giftstore. Widely regarded as the founding father of the New World cuisine movement, and a pivotal player in the attention drawn to Florida’s food scene, Van Aken will continue to run Norman’s at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando.
