Out and About: KANEHOLLER Impresses Crowd at The Social

Ever go to a concert knowing nothing about the opening act, and then they blow you away with their performance? That happened to me this week when I saw KANEHOLLER at The Social on April 14.

KANEHOLLER was the opening act for The Ting Tings, but this duo brought it like they were headliners.

Comprised of singer-songwriter-producing partners Jon Foster and Chelsea Tyler, they call their sound Electro-Soul, but it ranged from EDM to industrial to neo-gothic as they played for the crowd at The Social.

Foster mostly manned the electronics keypads, while Tyler fronted on vocals – though she got a little wild on the buttons, too. The sound was huge for just two people. But what impressed me most was the earthy emotive voice of Tyler, who sounds like she may have inherited some bluesy genes from her dad Steven Tyler (yes, that Steven Tyler).

It was a great live set, and I look forward to seeing KANEHOLLER next time they come through Central Florida.
