Velvet Sessions at the Hard Rock Hotel Presents Howard Jones for March 2015

Every month, except November and December, the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando hosts a live concert called Velvet Sessions. It’s a 21 and over event that features classic rock and pop artists performing in an intimate club-like atmosphere.

Howard Jones

This month, 80s hitmaker Howard Jones will be performing on Thursday, March 26. His hits include “What is Love,” “Life in One Day,” “Things Can Only Get Better,” and “No One is To Blame.”

But what many people don’t know is that in addition to being a chart-topping musician, he’s also a tech pioneer who has contributed to the advancement of synthesizers and electronic sequencing/sampling.

He is still writing and recording, of course. His most recent recording is ENGAGE, envisioned as an audio/video feast. It embraces EDM, contemporary classical, cinematic and pop music influences, and fuses it with ballet, modern dance and philosophy, and is available in cd/dvd form at howardjones.com, or via mp3 only at amazon.com.

Tickets to the Velvet Sessions show are $29 in advance online or $35 at the door. This not only gets you in the door, but free specialty drinks, finger foods and warm-up tunes from 6:30 pm until show time. Complimentary valet parking is also included. Purchase tickets at velvetsessions.com.

For $50, you can upgrade to VIP, which in addition to the above perks, gives you access to a special viewing area with a private bar serving those free specialty drinks all night.

After the show, a DJ plays tunes until 1am.

Here’s a video of his classic hit, “Things Can Only Get Better,” to get you in the mood for the show:
