Out and About: Downtown Disney Hosts Frozen DVD Party

Downtown Disney Frozen PartyOn Tuesday, March 18, Downtown Disney hosted a party to celebrate the release of Disney’s hit movie Frozen on Blu-ray and DVD.

This free event at Once Upon a Toy at the Marketplace featured an outside DJ dance party and an inside Frozen backdrop for people to take photos with.

We got there around 2pm, and headed inside to see the photo area. It was actually pretty cool, with faux snow-covered mountains and Olaf in one corner. The line was never longer than a few minutes, so pretty soon adults were getting in on the action.

Just outside, in the area where the water fountain normally is, a DJ spun songs to dance to. There were also hula hoops for kids to play with. Every 30 minutes or so, one of the DJ’s would lead a sing-a-long to “Let It Go” from the Frozen soundtrack, and encourage all the kids to sing into a microphone he had. It was really cute.  Around 4pm, the DJs led the crowd in a spirited version of “Simon Says.”

Our family writer, Carol, arrived with her kids around 5pm, and they went inside so she could take Frozen photos. Her daughter was even dressed like Elsa for the occasion.

It was a fun event put on by Disney, and I’d love to see them do more things like this.
