In a unanimous vote on Monday (Nov 4), Orlando City Council members voted to approve a real estate deal that would see a new Orlando Magic entertainment complex in the space now occupied by Orlando Police Headquarters downtown.

That block, which borders the north side of the Amway Center, at Church Street, would house the new Magic headquarters in phase one of the project. Phase two would see the addition of a hotel, a convention center, office space, commercial space (stores/restaurants) and a public parking garage (to replace the existing one that will be demolished to make room for the plaza that faces the Amway Center).

The Orlando Police Department would be relocated.
