Universal Orlando Announces Joss Whedon’s Cabin in the Woods as Haunted Maze Theme for Halloween Horror Nights 23

Cabin in the Woods Halloween Horror Nights 23One of the best horror movies in a long time was Cabin In the Woods. This week, Universal Orlando has annouced the film would be the basis for one of the new haunted mazes for Halloween Horror Nights 23.

From the minds of Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard, Cabin in the Woods paid homage to classic horror within the completely original story of a group of college friends who vacation at an isolated cabin, only to find they’re part of a much larger game.

For this maze, Universal’s Entertainment team is partnering with LIONSGATE (the film’s distributor) and film director/co-writer Goddard to deliver a movie-quality haunted house experience that’s authentic to the film and places guests in the middle of an ancient fight for survival.

“This is a twisted dream come true for me,” said Goddard. “The Universal team has done an amazing job making all the terrifying aspects of ‘Cabin’ come to life, and horror fans will not be disappointed. Also, they said they’d let me dress up like a merman and scare people, so I’ll see you guys there.”

I’m excited to see how they translate the unique aspects of the film into a haunted house format (Goddard better not be kidding about that Merman!).

Halloween Horror Nights 23 will frun from September 20 to November 2, 2013.
