Ok fellow sci-fi geeks. Halloween weekend usually belongs to the horror fans, but there’s a great event happening in Orlando that has nothing to do with monsters but does include aliens and other worldly life forms. Or at least the actors that play them.

I’m talking about Vulcan Events’ Away Mission: Orlando sci-fi fan convention. It takes place October 28 through 30 at the Hilton Walt Disney World.
Headlining the event is Sir Patrick Stewart. Among his many legendary roles on stage and screen are those of Capt. Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men movies. I adore him.
Also headlining is actress Jewel Staite, who portrayed Kaylee in the Firefly series, and its companion movie, Serenity. She also starred as Dr. Jennifer Keller in Syfy’s Stargate: Atlantis series. I’ve met her at a few Firefly events and she’s awesome!
Others celebrity media guests scheduled for the event are Armin Shimerman (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine; Buffy the Vampire Slayer), David Warner (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Tron), David Nykl (Stargate Atlantis), Max Grodenchik (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Phil Morris (Star Trek; Mission: Impossible), Richard Hatch (Battlestar Galactica), and Jennifer Hetrick (Star Trek:The Next Generation).
All-inclusive tickets are sold out, but you can still get general admission day tickets for $20-$45, and select weekend passes starting at $69. Children 12 and under are free with a paid adult admission. Photos with and autographs are an additional fee per guest.
