I recently visited the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal Orlando’s CityWalk for dinner prior to catching the Blue Man Group show next door. It’d been a few years since I’d eaten there, and I know the menu had undergone some changes since. This was the perfect opportunity to see if the food was as good as I remembered.
Upon arrival, we were immediately seated towards the back of the main floor. The restaurant was packed and noisy, but that’s to be expected given it’s location at the theme park.
The World Burger Tour returns to the Hard Rock Cafe, including the Orlando location, and will be available through June 30. The tour menu showcases international Local Legendary Burgers, which are created by chefs at each location to reflect the flavors of their city.
This year more than 160 local burgers were evaluated by Hard Rock’s culinary team with the following fan favorites selected to headline the World Burger Tour menu:
Alaskan-born chanteuse Jewel will be bringing her current Picking Up the Pieces tour to Central Florida in March for two shows in Orlando and Clearwater.
The singer-songwriter-actress-author first broke on the music scene in 1995, with her debut album Pieces of You. The album had several hit singles, including “Who Will Save Your Soul,” “You Were Meant for Me,” and “Foolish Games,” and went on to become one of the best-selling debuts of all time.
You’ve never truly experienced The Rocky Horror Picture Show movie until you’ve seen it in a theater with a live shadow cast. Luckily Orlando has a great shadow cast, The Rich Weirdoes, and they will be putting on their annual Halloween Extravaganza at AMC Universal Cineplex at Universal Orlando CityWalk, October 31 and November 1.
So what is a shadow cast? It’s a group of people who act out the movie in real time, as the movie is playing. They dress up as the characters, and fully participate in the performance. The Rich Weirdoes usually perform twice-monthly at the Universal theaters, but once a year they put on the Halloween Extravaganza, and it is so much fun.
There is a Halloween-themed pre-show, as well as live music from Marc with a C. Most of the audience is also dressed up, because it’s Halloween, of course. You don’t have to dress up if you don’t want to, though.
The Extravaganza starts at midnight both nights, though I suggest getting there early. There’s usually a line to get in, and during the Halloween shows, it can be hard to find seats if you’re late. Tickets are $11.50, and prior to the show, the cast walks around selling prop bags that add enjoyment to the movie viewing. Money from the prop bags goes to cover the costs of putting on this show, since the cast is not paid.
