The 139th Silver Spurs Rodeo was in town last weekend, and this is always a family-friendly fun event. We attended the Friday, June 2nd show. There was supposed to be a big Schools Out Bash prior to the rodeo, however, the rain and storms made that an impossibility. We need the rain, so it’s ok.

The evening began with the Junior bull riding. These kids are brave and have a great future ahead of them in rodeo.

The rodeo is still going strong, and offers competitions of various talents, including Bull Riding, Bronc Riding, Barrel Racing, Steer Wrestling, and Team Roping.

Out and About: Silver Spurs Rodeo is Fun for the Family

On Friday night (Feb 19), I took my kids to the Silver Spurs Rodeo at the Silver Spurs Arena at Osceola Heritage Park. This is a great family event and I do recommend getting there earlier, rather than later. It was a nearly sold out event on Friday.

Cowboy / cowgirl clothing is not required, but if you need to add some to your wardrobe, there are vendors there selling hats, belts and buckles, among other things.

Silver Spurs Rodeo is a family tradition in Kissimmee, and it returns for its 134th edition the weekend of February 20-22.

I recently had the chance to meet some of the people involved with the Silver Spurs Rodeo and tour the Silver Spurs Arena and its rodeo set-up.

Whitney Hopkins- 2014 Miss Silver Spurs, Brighton Mick – 2014 Little Miss Silver Spurs, Sheila Shirah – 2015 Miss Rodeo Florida, and Sarah Taylor – 2014 Junior Miss Congeniality

I met several Rodeo Queens, including Whitney Hopkins – 2014 Miss Silver Spurs, Brighton Mick – 2014 Little Miss Silver Spurs, Sheila Shirah – 2015 Miss Rodeo Florida (who will represent Florida in the Miss Rodeo America Pageant in Las Vegas), and Sarah Taylor – 2014 Junior Miss Congeniality. They all were excited to be representing the rodeo as ambassadors for the sport. Several grew up around the rodeo, so it’s a way of life for them.

133rd Silver Spurs Rodeo Returns to Kissimmee June 6-7, 2014

Hundreds of top rodeo professionals are gearing up for the 133rd Silver Spurs Rodeo of Champions, which will take place June 6th and 7th at the Silver Spurs Arena at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee.

133rd Silver Spurs Rodeo of ChampionsThe Silver Spurs Rodeo is a celebration of an original American sport, born in the old west where cowboys challenged each other in a contest of ranching skills. Founded by the Silver Spurs Riding Club in 1942 for the promotion of good horsemanship and good fellowship in Osceola County, the Silver Spurs Rodeo today is one of the most successful in the Southeast.

Among the competitions will be Bull Riding, Bareback & Saddle Bronc Riding, Calf Roping, Barrel Racing, Team Roping and Steer Wrestling. The event start at 7:30pm each night.

It’s affordable family fun, too! Tickets are only $15 per person, and kids 10 and under are free. Free admission for active and retired military personnel with I.D. Parking is free, as well.

Kissimmee Blue Skies and Silver Spurs Festival to Take Place May 31-June 02, 2013

The Kissimmee Blue Skies & Silver Spurs Festival is actually four festivals rolled into one, and it will take place at both Osceola Heritage Park and Formosa Gardens, from May 31 through June 02, 2013.

It kicks off Friday, May 31, at Osceola Heritage Park, with the Endless Summer Songwriters Festival from 4-7pm, and the Silver Spurs Rodeo at 7:30pm.

Saturday, June 01, hot air balloons will take off from Formosa Gardens in West Kissimmee at 7am, while the Blue Skies Adventure Race starts on the grounds below. Then the action moves over to the Osceola Heritage Park for another day of the Endless Summer Songwriters Festival from noon-7pm, and the Silver Spurs Rodeo at 7:30pm.

The whole thing wraps up on Sunday, June 02, with another hot air balloon launch from Formosa Gardens at 7am.

  • Blue Skies Adventure Race – $50 per runner; Free parking and admission for non-runners

Silver Spurs Rodeo Rides into Kissimmee Today

Relive some of Kissimmee’s history by bringing your family to this weekend’s PRCA Silver Spurs Rodeo of Champions at the Silver Spurs Arena.

2011 marks the 126th year for the rodeo and hundreds of top rodeo professionals are here to compete in events such as bull riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, and barrel racing. Yes, there will even be rodeo clowns.

The rodeo starts today (Feb 18) at 7:30pm, continues Saturday (Feb 19) at 7:30pm, and finishes Sunday (Feb 20) at 2pm.

Tickets are a mere $15 per person, per day, and children 10 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. All paid admissions also include free admission to the Osceola County Fair being held next door.
