Take note foodies of Orlando…there’s a new restaurant week coming to Orlando.
Mainstreet Restaurant Week will take place August 1 through 8, and will feature the culinary chops from eight districts in Orlando: Audubon Park, College Park, Church Street district, Downtown South, Gateway Orlando, Ivanhoe Village, Mills 50 and Thornton Park District.
The 24th Annual Orlando Fringe Festival returns May13th-25th in Orlando’s Ivanhoe Village and Loch Haven Park, with a wealth of artistic endeavors, music, and more.
What is the Fringe? It is a 14-day arts festival that is founded on the concept of being 100% unjuried, uncensored, and accessible. Fringe Festivals began in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1947, and made its way to Orlando where it was started 24 years ago, in 1991.
Get an early start on the Holiday vibe with the annual Jingle Eve celebration in Ivanhoe Village on November 22.
The entire neighborhood takes part with Holiday specials and samples from local merchants, a Wine Stroll, food from The Food Truck Bazaar, and Santa’s Workshop.
The evening’s highlights are the Happy Holiday sign lighting at 6pm, and the Christmas tree lighting in Gaston Edwards Park at 6:30pm.
Best of all, Jingle Eve is free to attend; the wine stroll ($20), and food truck offerings are extra.
Ivanhoe Village is the area of Orlando along N. Orange Avenue, Virginia Drive, Alden Road, E. Princeton, Loch Haven Park, Lake Ivanhoe and Lake Formosa, just north of downtown Orlando. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page.
Black Friday isn’t until November 29, but Ivanhoe Village kicks off the Orlando Christmas shopping season with their annual Jingle Eve 2013 on Saturday, November 23.
Santa’s Workshop runs from 5pm-8pm. There will be a bouncy house, face painting, and other activities. And, of course, what Jingle Eve would be complete without a visit from Santa Claus who will be assisted by Mrs. Claus and possibly and elf or two.
For the adults, the beer garden and wine stroll ($10 in advance/$15 day of) run from 6pm-11pm. There will also be food trucks, sponsored by the Food Truck Bazaar. So far 15 trucks are scheduled to be there.
The Lake Ivanhoe Boat Parade starts at 6:30pm, and features boats and paddleboards decorated for the holidays. It’s free to watch.
If they can meet their goal in time, the Ivanhoe Holiday Sign on top of the historic Ivanhoe building will shine bright this year, for the first time in two decades. It will make the district’s annual Jingle Eve event that much more festive, too.
This evening event features late night shopping, food trucks, a beer garden, street vendors and artists, entertainment, and more. There will also be a wine stroll, and Other’s People Property will be holding a Summertime Swap & Shop (so bring your old clothes and leave with new ones).
The street party stretches along Virginia Dr. between Alden Rd. and Haven Dr., and runs from 6pm to 9pm. It is free to attend, though food, beer, and the wine stroll will cost additional.
Start your Christmas partying early with the 2012 Twelve Pubs of Christmas Pub Crawl on December 8.
