The holidays at Universal Orlando are full of wonder and magic. Macy’s brings a few balloons from their legendary Thanksgiving Parade to Universal Studios Florida for a mini-parade that makes me want to go to NYC to see the whole thing! It’s amazing to watch as these gigantic balloons are maneuvered down the street in the park. I think I was just as excited as the kids were.
Joyous holiday traditions return to Universal Orlando December 3 to January 1 with Grinchmas, the 15th Anniversary of Macy’s Holiday Parade, and holiday concerts by Mannheim Steamroller.
At Universal Studios Florida, the larger-than-life balloons seen in the famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City will fill the streets during the 15th anniversary Macy’s Holiday Parade.
With a flourish of flames, Skull Island: Reign of Kong was officially opened at Islands of Adventure at Universal Orlando.
Members of the 8th Wonder Expedition Company took to the stage to theatrically announce the attraction was now open to all to experience.
Earlier this month, Universal Orlando hosted YouTube sensation, Tyler Oakley, and his mom, Queen Jackie. They were among the first to experience the ground-breaking new ride, Skull Island: Reign of Kong at Islands of Adventure.
Effective this week, Universal Orlando is charging higher prices at the gate for one-day tickets under their new Seasonal Pricing policy.
Normally one-day/one-park tickets are $105 for adults and $100 for children, but since the parks have entered their busysummer season, a one-day/one-park ticket at the gate will now set you back $119 for adults and $114 for children.
It’s only a matter of months until The Incredible Hulk Coaster reopens after a major revamp, and this week Universal Orlando has revealed some relaunch details.
The first big change is the entrance to the coaster. As you enter the ride, you’ll pass underneath a towering figure of The Hulk, using his colossal strength to hold up pieces of the coaster’s track. These pieces are actually salvaged from the ride’s original track.
A few weeks ago, Universal Orlando revealed story details for the upcoming Skull Island: Reign of Kong attraction, and yesterday, they released the first photo of the actual ride vehicle, along with a few more details.
The 40-foot-long, 17-ton expedition vehicle will use a sophisticated positioning system to independently navigate a rough, jungle road through unpredictable terrain. The extra-large vehicle will hold up to 72 passengers in twelve rows, which should help with passenger flow through the attraction.
In September 2015, The Incredible Hulk Coaster closed at Universal Orlando‘s Islands of Adventure for rehab, but last week, the first pieces of the coaster were re-installed.
These first pieces of the track are only part of the hard work going into upgrading the popular coaster.
We’re mere months away from the opening of Universal Orlando‘s newest attraction Skull Island: Reign of Kong, and our family writer Carol Garreans captured a photo update on the progress.
Nestled between Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls and the Jurassic Park River Adventure at Islands of Adventure, the attraction has a Summer 2016 projected opening.
As of the beginning of this month, it looks like the attraction is coming together nicely, and will have a prominent landscape within the park:
Universal Orlando announced details this week for their popular Celebration of Harry Potter event, which returns to the theme park January 29-31, 2016.
Now in its third year, this special event hosted by Universal Orlando Resort and Warner Bros. Consumer Products allows fans to celebrate all of Harry’s adventures, from the beloved books to the feature films and more.
One of Universal Orlando‘s signature coasters, The Incredible Hulk, will be closing September 8 for refurbishment.
According to Universal, the ride will be getting new enhancements to its storyline and ride vehicles. It will also be getting some upkeep, such as paint.
Dinosaur fans…velociraptors have arrived at Jurassic Park in Universal’s Islands of Adventure and they’re wanting to meet you!
Jurassic World opens June 12, but you don’t have to wait until then to see a velociraptor up close. Universal Orlando has brought one of the critters to Islands of Adventure.
To help promote the upcoming Jurassic World movie, it seems Universal Orlando‘s Islands of Adventure will be bringing in a Velociraptor for photo ops.
A small blurb inside the latest annual passholder newsletter states, “Starting in June be on the lookout for photo opportunities with a Velociraptor in the Jurassic Park area of Universal’s Islands of Adventure.”
As we predicted this morning, Universal Orlando has formally announced a new King Kong attraction will be coming to Islands of Adventure.
Skull Island: Reign of Kong is the name, and it is an all new adventure that tells the next evolution in the Kong legend, with help from director Peter Jackson. He directed 2005’s King Kong, as well as the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit movies, so he understands sets of a large scale.
Butterbeer is served several ways at Universal Orlando – cold, frozen, and even as an ice cream flavor. Now, just in time for the colder Florida weather, the theme park is offering the flavor as a hot beverage.
That’s right, you can now order hot Butterbeer at both sections of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
In Diagon Alley at Universal Studios, it will be served at Leaky Cauldron, The Hopping Pot, and The Fountain of Fair Fortune. In Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure, it will be available at Three Broomsticks and Hog’s Head Pub. It will be served year-round.
Since the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade in June 2010, millions of Butterbeers have been sold each year at Universal Orlando. I’m sure this new hot version will help increase those numbers.
