The Publix Chefs series at Dr. Phillips Center is presenting celebrity Chef Emeril Lagasse for a one night only show on April 21, and we have two pairs of tickets to giveaway!
Hosted by John Rivers of 4Rivers Smokehouse, the evening will feature Emeril sharing the stories behind his amazing journey — including the inspirations behind his recipes, his classic New Orleans style and his A-list chef friends – as well as answering questions from the audience.
In this week’s dining news round-up, Kappo Closes, Lucky’s Market and The Ganachery to open, and Emeril Lagasse gets postponed, plus much more. Ready?
Kappo at East End Market will close by the end of the year, according to the owners. The trio, comprised of Lordfer Lalicon, Jen Banagale and Mark Berdin, struggled earlier this year when health inspectors insisted a plastic sneeze guard had to be installed at the seven seat bar, and in a statement, they said December will be the last month of their Omakase service.
Melissa Kelly won Best Chef: Northeast for her PRIMO restaurant in Rockland, Maine. She also owns PRIMO at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes.
Emeril Lagasse received the Humanitarian of the Year award for his work with the New Orleans-based Emeril Lagasse Foundation. He owns both Emeril’s Orlando at Universal Orlando CityWalk, and Emeril’s Tchoup Chop at Universal’s Loews Royal Pacific Resort.
The James Beard Awards are like the Grammys of the restaurant industry, so this is a big honor for those who received the awards.
From August 7th through August 15th (Child’s birthdate), there will be a special birthday menu available to guests to order from. I’m not sure if it will be a set menu or if there will be choices available. Lagasse says he’ll post more information on the menus closer to the event.
At any rate, I would recommend making reservations, as this is sure to be a popular event. Emeril’s Orlando can be reached at 407-224-2424 and Tchoup Chop’s phone is 407-503-2467.
