The Florida Local Food Summit takes place September 9 at East End Market in Orlando. The event will be an educational gathering of local food producers, advocates, and community members, tailored to advance the knowledge of what we can do and be as a local food system.
STK Orlando recently opened at Disney Springs, and is the only one to offer a lunch seating. The other locations in the brand are only open for dinner.
Created by Executive Chef James O’Donnell, the menu at lunch features many of the dishes found on the dinner menu, such as a variety of steaks, Free Range Chicken, and Florida grouper.
For the month of August, Sprinkles has partnered with actress/entrepreneur Drew Barrymore for a special cupcake flavor: Strawberry Shortcake by Drew Barrymore.
It features a rich yellow cake filled with tart, juicy strawberry curd, and topped with a pillowy cloud of toasted marshmallow frosting.

James and Julie Petrakis (The Ravenous Pig, Cask & Larder) dropped two newsworthy bits of information last week.
First they will be opening a new eatery next year at Disney Springs called the Polite Pig. They are partnering with James’ brother Brian (Greens & Grille) for this fast casual restaurant that will serve wood-fired smoked and grilled items – think sandwiches and salads – as well as a full drink menu that will include beer brewed at Cask & Larder.

He’s made a name in the music world as a member of ‘NSync, and hosted several TV shows. Now Joey Fatone launching a hot dog cart at Florida Mall‘s dining pavilion.
Called Fat One’s Hot Dogs and Italian Ice, it will open this fall and feature menu items with playful names like “The Boybander” and “The Gone Hollywood.” Even the business name is a play on Fatone’s name.

STK Orlando has officially opened its doors at Disney Springs, and on Tuesday night, CitySurfing Orlando was invited to the Grand Opening Party.
This location, the 11th for the brand, is the largest with over 14,000-sq-ft. and seating on two levels. the first floor features a lounge area, bar, a seated dining area, and a private dining room that can seat 12. Lighting is dim, and a DJ is stationed here, too.

Shake Shack is adding two new items to its menu starting June 3. The first is the Bacon CheddarShack Burger. a all natural Angus beef hamburger topped with smoked Niman Ranch bacon and Wisconsin aged cheddar cheese sauce. A single will price at $6.89 and a double will be $9.69.
Kipling recently opened in the new Town Center area of Disney Springs, and will be celebrating the launch of its interactive retail space Friday, May 20 through Sunday, May 22.
The event will offer visitors refreshments, a tour of the space and each activation area, and a complimentary Kipling monkey keychain with any purchase of $100 or more while supplies last.
The first portion of Town Center at Disney Springs will open today, Sunday, May 15, and one of the new tenants will be Sprinkles, known worldwide for their cupcakes.

The COOP in Winter Park has added a new option to its menu. The Salad Bar includes offerings such as grilled chicken, fresh and flavorful dressings that are made in house, and various pre-made seasonal salads.
Cost is $9.99, and its available daily from 11am-2pm and from 5pm-close.
On May 15, Morimoto Asia at Disney Springs will launch their Street Food window at the restaurant, offering variations of popular Asian-influenced to-go light bites.
Morimoto tested this concept in January, but they took the time to expand the menu, and are now ready for guests to enjoy this new section of the restaurant.

The Daily Poutine and B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co. will open on May 15 with many other Disney Springs Town Center restaurants and stores. Aristocrepes will open May 22.
As we’ve mentioned before, Sprinkles will be one of the new food options at the new Town Center area of Disney Springs, which opens May 15, and we’ve confirmed they will be bringing their famous Cupcake ATM to this new location.
As the 20th location for the brand nationwide, Sprinkles at Disney Springs will feature freshly baked cupcakes and an assortment of ice creams and cookies. I’ve had their cupcakes at their L.A. store and they are so full of flavor!

So has the American Institute of Architects Orlando, who bestowed their “Design Built Award of Merit” for the design of the building Morimoto Asia resides in.
