The Garden Theatre kicks off its 10th Anniversary 2017-2018 Season with the classic rock opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, showing September 8 – October 1, 2017.
The musical follows Jesus Christ during his last seven days on Earth, and is told from the perspective of Judas Iscariot. With material borrowed from the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, this musical follows the meteoric rise of Jesus’ popularity, the devotion and doubts of his disciples, and the radical response by the church priests.
Nao Tsurumaki, who launched his theater career in Central Florida 16 years ago, has been tapped to lead Winter Garden’s historic Garden Theatre into the next decade as executive director.
After an extensive search to replace former executive director Alauna Friskics, who now runs Orlando Fringe, the Garden Theatre Board of Directors said that Tsurumaki would begin his leadership role July 10.
One of Central Florida’s best art events is the annual Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival, and you’ll have a chance to enjoy it when it returns March 18-20, 2016.
The event features 225 fine artists from around the country exhibiting their works in Central Park and along Park Avenue in Winter Park.
