D23: Guardians of the Galaxy Attraction Coming to Epcot By 2021

Guardians of the Galaxy Attraction Coming to Epcot By 2021

Two new attractions were announced for Epcot at this weekend’s D23 Expo, and one of them will be Guardians of the Galaxy-inspired.

This attraction will not be the same as the recently opened Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, which debuted at Disney California Adventure park earlier this year..

Instead, Epcot’s brand new E-ticket attraction will be based on the action-packed world of Guardians of the Galaxy, and will allow guests to encounter these characters at Walt Disney World.

No exact storyline has been revealed, but it appears the outside of the building resembles Nova Corp. There also appears to be a pre-show area telling the history of the Guardians, and I’m sure there will be a killer soundtrack, too.

Why Epcot? Apparently, according to a photo released at D23, Peter Quill (aka “Starlord”) visited the park shortly before being kidnapped by Yondu and taken to outer space. So it fits that the ride is located there.

Set to open by Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021, the attraction will replace the Universe of Energy attraction in Future World. That attraction will close August 13, 2017, to make room for the Guardians.

I think it’s about time Walt Disney World got a Marvel-themed attraction, and with the characters of Guardians of the Galaxy, this new attraction should be a lot of fun.

What do you think of this new attraction? Are you looking forward to it?
