It was announced this weekend at D23 Expo the Universe of Energy attraction at Epcot will be closing in August 2017.

The Universe of Energy is one of the park’s original rides, opening on Epcot’s opening date of October 1, 1982. It featured numerous films that presented information on the subject of energy, as well as a ride through a primeval diorama complete with audio-animatronic dinosaurs.

It was revamped in 1996 with a new show called Ellen’s Energy Adventure, a more light-hearted look at the subject of energy. It features Ellen DeGeneres, Bill Nye “The Science Guy”, Alex Trebek, Johnny Gilbert, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
