Upcoming Central Florida Food Events for Early Spring 2017

Foodies – mark your calendars! There are a slew of food-centric events scheduled for the next few months, and they run the gamut from special dinners to theme park festivals:

As part of The COOP‘s Guest Chef Series, Chef John Rivers will be joined by Rusty Spoon’s Chef Kathleen Blake on February 22, for a cooking demo and tasting. The menu will feature Chef Blake’s Lake Meadow Chicken Thighs and Sticky Rice with Lemon Relish, and Chef Rivers’ Pecan Pie Bread Pudding.

Chef Greg Richie of Soco will be the guest chef for a dinner at Capa Steakhouse at Four Seasons Resort at Walt Disney World on February 23. The inaugural Seven Seas Food Festival runs at SeaWorld Orlando on Saturdays through May 13. The annual Downtown Food & Wine Festival returns to Lake Eola Park February 25-26. Sample food and beverages from a variety of Central Florida restaurants, along with musical entertainment including headliners Gavin DeGraw and KC and the Sunshine Band. Morimoto Asia at Disney Springs will host a Wok & Wines Dinner of February 28, in collaboration with Wine Bar George, which will open later this year nearby. Cost is $150 per person (+ tax/gratuity), and attendees must be 21+. The 4-course menu, created by Morimoto Asia’s Executive Chef Yuhi Fujinaga, will showcase a selection of modern Pan-Asian dishes. Busch Gardens Tampa is hosting their annual Food & Wine Festival Saturdays and Sundays March 4 through April 30. Admission to the fest, plus headliner concerts are included with park admission. Food & beverage samples from 13 different stations around the park are available for an additional fee per item. Sample-sized food tastings range from $4 to $7 for food. Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida hosts another Chef’s Night event on March 20. Corporate Executive Chef of Seasons 52, Chef James Messinger, has created a 5-course dinner with cocktail and wine pairings to celebrate the change of season from Winter to Spring. Tickets are $100 per person, and all Chef’s Night proceeds benefit the Darden Foundation Community Kitchen’s Culinary Training Program at Second Harvest Food Bank. The 9th Annual Wine & Seafood Festival takes place at Lakeridge Winery in Clermont the weekend of March 24-26.
