In this week’s Orlando dining news round-up: new openings, new brunches, special dining events, and a couple of closings. Are you hungry? Let’s dive in…

1921 by Norman Van Aken will start Sunday brunch service November 13. The menu is a la carte and features dishes such as Corn Tamale Scramble, Acorn Squash Salad, Chicken & Waffles served with Asian spiced syrup, and the Full Moon Saloon Fish Sandwich with frites.

Hours are 11:30am to 2pm, and reservations are suggested. The restaurant is located at 142 East 4th Avenue in Mount Dora.

Also starting Sunday brunch service is Ferg’s Depot in downtown Orlando. They offer an all-you-can-eat buffet for $12.95, or a la carte choices priced individually from 10am to 2pm. Also on the menu: 2 for 1 Mimosas and Sangrias, and $6 Titos Build Your Own Bloody Mary’s.

Baoery Asian Gastropub in Thornton Park is celebrating their first anniversary with a party on November 19. Cost is $30 per person, and includes a bao station, passed appetizers, 2 drink tickets and more. Register online at the event’s ticket page.

Soco Thornton Park is holding a Holiday Entertainment Event on November 30 featuring a holiday cocktail demonstration, Lee James Floral Designs showing easy to make centerpieces, and small bites from Executive Chef Greg Richie. Cost is $25 per person; call 407-849-1800 to RSVP.

PizzeRizzo, a Muppets-themed pizza place, is opening November 18 in Muppets Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Entrees include personal-sized Pizza Pies, available in four varieties (vegetable, pepperoni, meat lovers and cheese), as well as a Meatball Sub. All are served with a side Caesar salad (hopefully they have another side option for those with seafood allergies).

Other menu items you can enjoy are the Antipasto Salad (Romaine lettuce piled high with tomatoes, Mozzarella, Kalamata olives, ham, pepperoni, salami, and Balsamic Vinaigrette), as well as traditional Italian sweets like Cannoli and Tiramisu.

Speaking of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, reservations are now open for the Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! Holiday Dessert Party. On select nights, enjoy holiday-inspired delights such as the Santa Mickey chocolate cupcake with peppermint bark, and a nitrogen dessert station. Beer, wine, and specialty cocktails are available for those 21 and over, as well as non-alcoholic options.

From November 14 through December 17, 2016, tickets are $69 adult / $39 children ages 3 to 9 (tax/gratuity included). December 18 through 31, 2016, tickets jump to $79 adult / $45 children ages 3 to 9. Book online or by calling (407) 939-3463. Admission to the park is also required.

Habit Burger Grill will be opening soon at 4001 Millenia Plaza Way, near the Millenia Target. The menu, as you would expect, includes flame-grilled “Char”burgers (voted Best Tasting in America by Consumer Reports), as well as salads, grilled chicken and a selection of sides that range from fries to tempura green beans. Desserts include shakes, malts, and cones/sundaes.

Smiling Bison has announced they will be closing the Orlando location sometime near the end of December, according to an announcement on their Facebook page. Until then, hours will be Thurs-Sat from 5:30 to midnight, and Sunday brunch from 11am to 3pm.

Owner/chef Josh Oakley says he is looking for a new Orlando space, but in the meantime, those needing a Smiling Bison fix can still visit the Sanford location, which will soon be offering lunch and brunch.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the owners of The Table and Pharmacy restaurants have filed for bankruptcy owing over $100,000 in sales tax. Located in The Dellagio on Sand Lake Rd in Dr Phillips, The Table was a small restaurant, and according to its Facebook page, is now permanantly closed. Pharmacy, also in The Dellagio, is a speakeasy-style restaurant, and it is still operating.
