Hurricane Matthew Information For Orlando

As Hurricane Matthew gets nearer to Central Florida, a lot of attractions are closing, and events are being cancelled. Here is the current list of closings, postponements, cancellations and more.

This list will be updated as needed on Thursday and Friday, so please bookmark it.

BASIC INFORMATION

VisitOrlando has also compiled a list of hotels that have room for evacuees. Be sure to ask the hotels if they have any special rates due to the hurricane.

**UPDATED**  Seminole County has issued a curfew for residents from 5am on Friday through 7am on Saturday.

**UPDATED** As of 7pm Thursday, Orange County has issued a curfew for residents from 10pm on Thursday through 7am on Saturday.

PRICE-GOUGING

Attorney General Pam Bondi has activated Florida’s Price Gouging Hotline at 866-966-7226. If you feel prices have been unfairly raised at places like stores and gas stations to take advantage of the hurricane crisis, give that number a call to report them.

AIRPORTS

Orlando International Airport is reducing flights for Thursday and Friday arrivals. Please check with your airline for any cancellations or schedule changes.

Orlando Sanford International Airport will cease domestic commercial flights starting at 10am Thursday.

THEME PARKS/ATTRACTIONS

**UPDATED** Walt Disney World – As of noon on Thursday, all four parks and Disney Springs will close at 5pm on Thursday and stay closed on Friday. Other closures:

  • Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom is canceled for Thursday. For rebooking, refunds and other options, call 407-566-4985, option 5, from 9am – 11pm ET.
  • Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is closed Thursday and Friday.
  • Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is open Thursday, but the Learn to Surf experience is closed. The park will be closed completely on Friday.
  • Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is closed from 2pm Thursday through Sunday.
  • Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue and Mickey’s Backyard BBQ – Thursday and Friday performances of both are canceled.
  • Spirit of Aloha dinner show at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is canceled Thursday and Friday.
  • Characters in Flight at Disney Springs is closed through Sunday.
  • ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex has canceled the 2016 Disney Cross Country Classic and Baseball Canada’s games and practice sessions for Friday and Saturday.

**UPDATED** Universal Orlando – As of 11:20am Thursday, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, as well as Universal CityWalk. will close this afternoon and remain closed Friday. Halloween Horror Nights is also cancelled for these two nights.. Visit universalorlando.com for further updates.

The Coca-Cola Orlando Eye will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Leu Gardens will be closing at noon on Thursday and be closed on Friday.

Orlando Museum of Art will be closed Thursday and Friday. They are also rescheduling the 1st Thursday event to October 19.

LEGOLAND Florida may close early on Thursday, and will close completely on Friday. LEGOLAND Hotel will be open both days to admit arriving guests.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will be closed Thursday and Friday. Plans are to reopen Saturday, after a thorough assessment of the property for damage. Visit kennedyspacecenter.com for further updates.

EVENTS

Garth Brooks – The Oct 6 and 7 concerts have been postponed until the weekend. Here is the new schedule of shows – tickets will be honored for the rescheduled shows, or ticket holders can request a refund as the original point of purchase:

Spooky Empire has cancelled the entire weekend convention due to the hurricane, partly due to safety, and partly due to guests were having flights cancelled with OIA being closed. Sad to hear, but I hope they’ll be back in great form next year!

WordCamp Orlando 2016 is official canceled. Rosen UCF campus is under mandatory order to close and remain closed through the weekend.

The 43rd Annual Autumn Art Festival in Winter Park has been canceled for the entire weekend.

**UPDATED** Booktoberfest at the Orange County Library is now cancelled. Orange County Libraries will also close all branches at 1pm on Thursday, and remain closed on Friday and Saturday as well.
