Out and About: Citrus Garden Offers Good Chinese Food at a Reasonable Price In Orlando

I visited Citrus Garden for the first time on a Saturday, and my friend and I were the only people in there besides a two people waiting for carry-out. Other than a few hanging lanterns, the decor didn’t scream Chinese restaurant, but I wasn’t there for the decor. I was hungry.

After looking at the menu, I decided to go for the sweet & sour chicken meal off the daily lunch special section, which comes with an egg roll or soup choice, and fried or white rice.

The food was tasty, hot, and fresh. The sweet & sour chicken had nice chunks of breast meat and a good batter coating. I liked that the sauce was served in a bowl on the side to control the amount. The fried rice was good but needed a little soy sauce to provide some flavor. Portions were really good, with enough for almost two meals. The egg roll was stuffed full, too.

The lunch special came to less than $6 plus tax for all that food, which makes it a really good deal for lunch.

The only thing that marred the meal was the service was efficient but not overly friendly. Our server wasn’t rude, but she performed the minimum of service. I didn’t even get a refill of my water.

But I would still eat here again. The food was good and filling.

The restaurant is located at 8123 Vineland Ave, tucked away in the side of the Publix plaza, next to the Orlando Premium Outlets – Vineland. For more information, you can find them online at citrusgardenfl.com. They also deliver within a certain area from the restaurant.
